Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy

Our experienced team of mobile physios will work closely with you to identify barriers and overcome them to achieve your therapy and life goals, all within the comfort of your own home. A detailed assessment is first undertaken, during which we talk to you about your issues to gain an understanding of how they impact your life. This is followed by a physical examination involving analysis of how your body moves to diagnose your problem. The team will then discuss your diagnosis to ensure you have a thorough understanding of the problem and the intervention strategies.

We then work with you to build a sustainable treatment plan that might include any of the following:

Manual therapy

This specialised form of physiotherapy is delivered with the hands, rather than a machine or device.Using this technique, Healthore physiotherapists use their hands to apply pressure to muscles and other soft tissues and to manipulate joints. When administered correctly, this technique is a tried and tested method of decreasing back pain caused by muscle spasm, tension and joint dysfunction.

Hydrotherapy

Hydrotherapy, or aquatic therapy, involves performing exercises in a swimming pool under the supervision of a specially qualified physiotherapist. Exercises are typically slow and carefully controlled. The warmth of the water allows your muscles to relax and eases pain in the joints, which helps with relaxation. The water can also be used to provide resistance to moving your joints. Performing exercises in the water is a great way to activate muscles that are difficult to activate on dry land.

Hydrotherapy is an effective treatment for managing arthritic pain and joint dysfunction, for gait re-education and a number of other conditions.

Supervised exercise

As appropriate, Healthcore physiotherapists will prescribe an exercise program that is tailored to your individual needs and will help you progress towards achieving your goals. Healthcore therapists will also talk to you on the day, assess your symptoms and movement and modify the exercise program to suit your needs.

Exercise therapy is the most strongly supported form of treatment to manage all types of muscle and joint dysfunction. The skilled and passionate team of Healthcore physiotherapists will motivate you to engage in exercise and achieve your therapy and life goals.

Dry needling

Dry needling is a procedure involving one or more fine needles (similar to acupuncture needles) being inserted into your skin and muscle. The needle targets muscle trigger points which are irritable and dysfunctional bands of muscle fibres that are caused by injury or overuse. The needles remain in your muscle for between 10 and 20 minutes during treatment.

Dry needling is an effective way to decrease muscle tension, increase blood flow and reduce pain. Most patients report immediate relief after treatment. Talk to a Healthcore therapist about dry needling to see if it a suitable and effective treatment option for you.

In-home reformer Pilates

Reformer Pilates involves exercises using the Pilates reformer machine and is more intense and more dynamic than mat based Pilates as it adds resistance to the Pilates exercises via springs that make up part of the reformer machine. Healthcore therapists are both experienced and highly trained in the use of reformer machines and can develop a program that is tailored around your fitness level and strength.

Healthcore physios also provide detailed reports to NDIS or Home Care Package providers to ensure that these funding bodies understand your therapy needs to work towards achieving your treatment goals.
Our highly skilled occupational physiotherapists can also provide detailed Functional Capacity Assessments and Assistive Technology Applications.
No matter your age or the stage of life you’re currently in. The Healthcore team can assist those of all ages.
